District Vehicles Available for Sale

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is now selling its fleet vehicles via an on-line auction program known as iBid (http://ibid.illinois.gov)

October 16, 2009 – Beginning in August 2008, the District partnered with the State of Illinois to sell its surplus property online, via an auction website known as iBid. Since then, the District has sold hundreds of items to the general public, ranging from industrial, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC items, to computers, cameras, projectors, phones, and a wide variety of other consumables.

Recently, the District began listing its fleet vehicles for sale on the iBid website. Similar to eBay™, an interested bidder can submit bids online, with the winning bidder being able to pay for their item(s) via a secure credit card payment system. Bidders are then given ten business days to pick up their item(s). The vehicles will be sold on an "AS IS" basis, all sales would be final, and each prospective bidder would be responsible for conducting his or her own independent investigations, inquiries, and due diligence concerning the property. Listed vehicles can be viewed, by appointment, and at specified times, at the Stickney Plant (6001 Pershing Road Cicero, IL 60804). The vehicles would be listed periodically on Thursdays, with auctions typically closing the following Tuesday.

To bid, go to http://ibid.illinois.gov, click on the “Register” tab, and follow the instructions to register as a bidder. Once an account has been created, simply log in, go to the “View All Items” tab to see all the items on auction, and submit bids accordingly. To view only District items available on auction, click on the “Local Government Stores” tab, then click on the “MWRDGC” store.

Please take a look at the website and periodically check it to take advantage of this unique opportunity. Should you have questions, feel free to contact Michael Simkhin, Buyer II, at 312-751-6619.
