| Established in 1889, the
MWRD is an award-winning, special purpose government agency responsible for
wastewater treatment and stormwater management in Cook County, Illinois. The
Office of Public Affairs strives to promote an understanding of the MWRD and
its activities by working with local municipalities, public and private
organizations and the media. Staff from the Office of Public Affairs participates in community events and coordinates tours of the treatment plants, pumping stations and other facilities.
